Website Maintenance Cost for a Small Business

Know what you will pay after launch, what an update allowance covers, and which costs stay separate.

Quick answer

For a Build n Found Landing Website or Business Website, optional hosting and maintenance costs $20/month and includes two changes per month. That is $240 over 12 months, separate from the website build and domain. The $79/month Monthly Website Plan includes the business website, hosting, maintenance and content updates, with a required 12-month commitment ($948 in payments over that term). These are our package prices, not an industry average.

A website quote and a maintenance quote answer different questions. The first covers building the site; the second covers keeping it hosted and managing work after launch. This guide focuses on a small business service website, not an online store or a custom application, and uses our published packages so you can compare actual scope instead of an unsupported market average.

Separate the build from the running costs

Our Landing Website is a one-page build at $299. Our Business Website includes up to five custom pages for $499. Hosting and maintenance are optional at $20/month for either package; they are not another website build charge.

  • — Domain: the website address. Check its renewal price with your registrar; it is separate from our hosting offer.
  • — Hosting: the service that makes the website available online.
  • — Maintenance: ongoing care within your provider's agreed scope.
  • — Content changes: edits to information on the site. Check the monthly allowance before choosing a plan.
  • — Extra services: ask for a separate quote for new pages, integrations, agents or chatbots rather than assuming they are routine maintenance.

What the optional $20/month covers

For our fixed-price Landing Website and Business Website packages, the optional $20/month service combines hosting, maintenance and two changes per month. It adds $240 if you use it for a full 12 months; the website build and domain remain separate.

Before agreeing, describe the changes you expect to request. Confirm the size of a change, response times, how unused changes are handled and the price of work beyond the allowance. Those details should be agreed in writing; a monthly price alone does not answer them.

Compare maintenance with a monthly website plan

The $79/month Monthly Website Plan is a different purchase: the business website is included alongside hosting, maintenance and monthly content updates. It requires a 12-month commitment, totaling $948 in plan payments over that term. Do not compare it with $20/month as if both prices covered the same work.

If you already plan to buy a fixed-price website, compare its build price plus the maintenance months you need. If avoiding a large upfront payment matters more, compare the monthly plan's total commitment and scope. Ask which option fits your project before paying.

What if you choose your own hosting?

Without Build n Found hosting, we deliver the website files and launch process. You then need to arrange hosting and decide who handles maintenance and later changes. Receiving files is not the same as having an ongoing maintenance service.

Request a renewal quote from the hosting provider you choose, check whether it supports the delivered project, and confirm who is responsible for publishing and future support. We do not assume a third-party price or promise that every host suits every project.

A checklist before accepting a maintenance quote

Use these questions to compare providers by responsibilities, not just the monthly fee.

  • — Is hosting included, and is the domain billed separately?
  • — How many changes are included and what counts as one change?
  • — Who checks that contact and quote forms still work?
  • — What security, backup and recovery work is actually included?
  • — What is the response time when the website or a form stops working?
  • — What costs extra: new pages, design changes, booking tools or integrations?
  • — What is the minimum term, cancellation process and handover process?
  • — Who owns and controls the domain, website files and provider accounts?
